What are your artistic weaknesses? What can you do to improve your art as you move forward?

My main artistic strength is pencil. I love painting but I'm not the best at it. I really like drawing eyes and shading. My weakness is definitely painting. It is my favorite but I just find acrylic paint to be abnormally hard for me to do and get it to look right.

Here is my pencil drawing from Art 3:

Select your favorite piece in Art 3. Describe how you created it, why it is your favorite, and what you think this piece says about you as an artist. Why do you think this piece is better than the rest of your work? What makes it "good"?

My favorite piece in Art 3 was a sketch that I did practicing drawing a crying eye. I honestly think it is the best thing I've ever drawn. It wasn't a final piece but it lead to a final piece which is also above that was a pencil drawing. The eye is my favorite because to me it's the most realistic piece that I've drawn. I believe this piece shows that I am an emotional person but that also shows that I can shade well. This piece is better than all of my work because even tho it was a sketch I still worked very hard on it and it shows an emotional time during my life. I believe what makes it good is the detail and time I spent on it.

Then we switched them with people in the class and had to do a blind portrait biased off of that paper. My paper talked about stress so I didn't a girl with a "MOST LIKELY: To be stressed out" ribbon. Michael Smith makes hundreds of hand made pieces and none of them are the same.He has been creating these amazing pieces for over 25 years. He has a website which i will link below in which explains everything that he does. He also has a shop on Etsy which is a website like amazon but for clothes. He does all different types of shibori and likes to keep his options open.

His work is retail design. He sells the pieces on Etsy where he has his own shop. I picked this artist because his work seemed very colorful and fun to look at. All of his pieces are completely different and not one is alike. Thats the beauty of shibori you never know what youre going to get.
I would make it more hair looking like.

From this project I learned that acrylic paint is fun to work with and it is easy to mix colors to make the color you like.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08117340537049196946noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151060308733748001.post-58508011045899742562014-02-04T06:31:00.000-08:002014-02-07T06:55:37.611-08:00Two In One ProjectI incorporated the two in one theme into my project by combining two things that had similar shape. I looked at lots of morphing pictures on Google and noticed the round shape of a goldfish's stomach. The shape of an apple fit perfectly into the fish's stomach so I decided to draw a picture of a fish with it's stomach an apple.

The medium I decided to use was pencil because I could shade easily with it and charcoal does the same thing but it is just to messy.

So far throughout the project I have had some problems with having to draw the fish so big. I like drawing smaller sketches not huge ones. Also, it is difficult to draw the scales of the fish's stomach on the outside of the apple without making it look like a cartoon.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08117340537049196946noreply@blogger.com0
