Sculpture Project

Did you learn any new techniques?
Yes I used a book and am exacto knife for the first time. It was very tiring and it hurt my wrists but it turned out to be a cool project.

Did you consider how ideas would work before you tried them?
Yes I wrote down all my ideas and analyzed them before I chose one.

Portrait Project

Did you gain skill with familiar materials?
Actually this was my first time using water  colored pencils and I think it went over very well.

Did you learn new techniques?
Yes I learned how to work with water colored pencils.

Land Art Project

How did you respond to challenges that occurred as you worked?
We had planned on using spray paint to paint the tree but once we realized none of the spray paint worked then we used paint brushes and sponges to paint it.

When did you step back and look at your work?
We constantly looked at our work from a distance because it's such a large object and you can't tell what it looks like up close.

Art Journal Project

My quote for this project was "Journal about Magic." I don't really like magic so I decided to make my topic "Summer is Magical" because it still includes magic and flows with my topic. I put a lot of summer quotes and everything that deals with summer.

How did you use your own unique ideas?
I used my ideas by putting the topic into a different direction because I don't like magic and I love summer.

Did you learn any new techniques?
Yes I did. I learned how to decoupage tissue paper and pictures to a book and make it look really cool.

Shibori Dyeing

Michael Smith is a Shibori artist from Asheville, North Carolina. Michael Smith makes hundreds of hand made pieces and none of them are the same.He has been creating these amazing pieces for over 25 years. He has a website which i will link below in which explains everything that he does. He also has a shop on Etsy which is a website like amazon but for clothes. He does all different types of shibori and likes to keep his options open.

His work is retail design. He sells the pieces on Etsy where he has his own shop. I picked this artist because his work seemed very colorful and fun to look at. All of his pieces are completely different and not one is alike. Thats the beauty of shibori you never know what youre going to get.

Art History Music Video Project

The piece that our group chose was "The Arlnofini Wedding." It was a really fun piece to recreate. We all contribuated to the different aspects of the piece. If i were to do this piece agian i probably would have put a little bit more detail into it.

Perspective Project

What is this artwork intended to say?
This piece is intended to show the pier at the beach because that is where i used to live and the beach is my favorite place.

Did you gain skill with familiar materials?
I used oil pastels for this project and i became more familiar with how to use them during this. I learned how to blend them so it looked fluent and not like a third grader drew it.

Printmaking Project

I took a risk by using this justin bieber as my focus point on this project. A lot of people hate justin bieber and people could have totally rejected my piece because of my focus point. I am glad that I used him for this though because it wa a lot of fun.

Reflecting on this project I realize that I did better than I thought I would. I was afraid he would turn out looking like a monster but he doesn't he looks like a human. The only thing is that he doesn't really look like Justin he just looks like a guy.

Meme Art

My definition of art is a form of self expression shown on a canvas or paper. It is how some one feels or sees something.

Color Project

The theme I picked was disguise. My picture shows diguise because it is a women with two faces so she is two face which is a disguise.
The medium I picked was acrylic paint because I thought that it would be easy and fun.
The difficulties I have had was drawing a side profile of the women's face. Something was always too big.

The areas that I am most proud of is most likely the skin color. It was very difficult to make but once I got it it looked really good.
If I could go back and change one thing it would be the hair. I would make it more hair looking like.
From this project I learned that acrylic paint is fun to work with and it is easy to mix colors to make the color you like.

Two In One Project

I incorporated the two in one theme into my project by combining two things that had similar shape. I looked at lots of morphing pictures on Google and noticed the round shape of a goldfish's stomach. The shape of an apple fit perfectly into the fish's stomach so I decided to draw a picture of a fish with it's stomach an apple.

The medium I decided to use was pencil because I could shade easily with it and charcoal does the same thing but it is just to messy.

So far throughout the project I have had some problems with having to draw the fish so big. I like drawing smaller sketches not huge ones. Also, it is difficult to draw the scales of the fish's stomach on the outside of the apple without making it look like a cartoon.
